German Fountain, Sultanahmet, İstanbul

The German Fountain is a beautiful and historic landmark located in the Sultanahmet Square of Istanbul. It was a gift to the Ottoman Empire from the German Kaiser Wilhelm II, and was built to commemorate the visit of the German Emperor to Istanbul in 1898. The fountain was designed by the German architect Spitta and constructed by the Ottoman architect Raimondo D’Aronco.

The fountain is made of marble and has a neo-Byzantine design with Moorish elements. It is decorated with columns, arches, and reliefs of various German figures, including eagles and lions. The fountain also features a central dome with a crescent moon and star, which is a symbol of the Ottoman Empire.

The German Fountain is located in the middle of the Sultanahmet Square, next to the Blue Mosque and the Hagia Sophia. It is a popular spot for tourists to take photos and admire the beautiful architecture. The fountain is also lit up at night, adding to its beauty and making it a must-see destination for visitors to Istanbul.
